You simply unscrew the existing cap.. sometimes it does take a good grip.. you can always use a little rubber band for extra grip if you need to, and change out the tip to match the pencil, or go wild and mix up the color tip! You are only purchasing the pencil tips, that are available in colors, and also the plain pencil graphite refill.
